My name is Tristan Brown and I am the founder and owner of Melodious Lessons. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where I sang in my school and church choirs. My band experience began in high school at Chicago Vocational Career Academy. There, I majored in architecture and played in the band program. While in band I learned to play percussion instruments and the baritone. Once I graduated I decided to change my major to music education and attended VanderCook College of Music. While attending VanderCook I learned to play and teach others how to play various percussion, string, and wind instruments, along with teaching voice. I graduated from VanderCook with a Bachelor's degree in Music education.

After college, I started teaching music in the Catholic school district part time while helping at Rich South high school. I was offered a full time music position at Horace Mann Academy on the south side of Chicago, where I started the band program in 2013. Since the start of the program I have been able to establish a 1st place middle school drum-line, concert band, and marching band that has competed against both middle schools and high schools, which they won here in Chicago and out of state. Due to their accomplishments my students have met past mayor Rahm Emanuel, 8th ward alderman Michelle Harris, Illinois state treasurer Michael W. Frerichs, and current governor J.B. Pritzker.
