The flute is a woodwind instrument and is one of the earliest identified instruments. The flute can be played by blowing air across the opening on the mouthpiece. 

The clarinet is a single reed woodwind instrument that was built in 12ths and has a register key. The clarinet is played by blowing air into the mouthpiece by causing the reed to vibrate against the mouthpiece. 

The saxophone is a single reed woodwind/brass instrument that that works similar to the clarinet but has an octave key instead of the register key. The saxophone was created by Adophe Sax in 1840.

The oboe and bassoon are double reed instruments that work by blowing air into the reeds and they vibrate together. The oboe is in treble clef and the bassoon is a bass clef instrument.

The trumpet and french horn are high brass instruments that are played by buzzing your lips into the mouthpiece. The horn acts as a microphone to the mouthpiece. 

The low brass instruments are played similar to the high brass instruments. The tuba is the lowest of the low brass instruments, the trombone and euphonium are your mid-range instruments.

Percussion instruments are any instrument that has to be struck or moved to create its sound. 

The voice is the most natural instrument that is used everyday.
